The Albany Middle School Annex Project provides additional classrooms and space for Visual and Performing Arts performances in Albany. It is a complementary facility located in a 0.9-acre contiguous site to the existing Albany Middle School campus. The 2-story new building hosts classrooms, computer labs, drama room and other supporting spaces in approximately 21,000 square feet. The arrangement of the different modules creates a richness of intermediate spaces that extend learning activities to the outdoors. BSS joined the design-build team from the competition phase of the project. We conducted climate analysis, daylighting simulations, and energy calculations throughout the project to ensure project’s compliance of Title 24 and the Collaborative for High-Performance Schools (CHPS) verified criteria.
